Korean Bootcamp
For someone who wants to spend the rest of the trip actually speaking. Learn it over the first hour, then use it on the street — the café, the counter, the restaurant, the taxi.
How the four hours go
One hour sitting down, three hours out in it.
You learn it over the first hour — the handful of things you’ll say twenty times a day for the rest of the trip. Then we leave the table and you use them, with me beside you for the moment it goes wrong.
- The café
- Ordering what you want, the way the person behind the counter expects to hear it.
- The counter
- Paying, asking the price, saying no thank you without it landing wrong.
- The restaurant
- Reading a menu you cannot read, and asking for the thing that is not on it.
- The taxi
- Saying where you are going, and understanding the answer you get back.
No Korean at all is the normal starting point. Everything is in English until the moment it isn’t, and you keep every photo and video from the three hours outside.
